Anatomy of the Archipelago

The Lummelunda Archipelago has six islands: The Town, Snowflake Island, Medieval Plains, Nature’s Rest, Sandy Coast, and Submerged Islands.

Lummelunda Archipelago - Map

These islands are divided into regions, all with different themes.

These are the Islands and Regions currently open to the public:

Medieval Plains

Tourney Wolds

Rusty Pikes

Nature's Rest

Pioneer Points

Shaded Headland

Gloomy Gulch

Snowflake Island

Tinsel Falls

In total, the entire Archipelago consists of 100,000 lands. While not strictly necessary, owning land is key to fully enjoying your time in the Lummelunda Archipelago and unlocking all available features.

Think of land as your home in the Archipelago.

Some of these lands will be sold to the public, and some will remain with the DAO. Examples of lands used by the DAO are Townhubs, lands in central places in each region where neighbors can interact, trade, and carry out various activities.

Accessing a Land

Land can be owned, shared, or claimed for free (if available) to try out.

Owned Land

By far, the best way to access land is to own it. Ownership gives you full control over your experience, no one can revoke it, and you’re free to share it with whomever you like.

When it comes to owning Land, here are a few things you might want to know:

How to buy a Land

Lands can be purchased through primary sales, meaning lands sold for the first time. If no primary sales are available (which are usually announced through our main communication channels), lands can still be bought at any time from other players via the secondary market. For details on how to buy land on the secondary market, refer to this section of the Market.

How to sell a Land

As a landowner, you have full ownership of your land, including the ability to sell it at any time. For details on how to sell land on the secondary market using My Neighbor Alice Market, refer to this section of the Market.

For those familiar with blockchain: most lands sold to date are BEP-721 tokens, meaning you have the freedom to sell and trade them even outside the My Neighbor Alice ecosystem and marketplace.

How to share a Land

As a landowner, you have full ownership of your land, including the ability to share it with up to 10 players. You can invite fellow players to become your tenants within the game. At the beginning of your journey, you’ll receive an item called 'Homestead', this serves as the key to sharing your land(s).

How does it work?

  • Place "Homestead" in the land you want to share, you will see it is an interactable object.

Press "E" to interact with Homestead
  • Click on "Invite Player"

Invite Player
  • Type the Avatar Name (not the wallet address) of the player you want to invite

Type the Avatar Name
  • The player, if he/she exists, will appear as an option.

  • Select the Avatar name and click "Add".

Implications of sharing a Land

Sharing multiple lands / Removing "Homestead" from the land

  • If you have multiple owned land, you just need to place the "Homestead" in the land you want to share with other players.

  • Removing the "Homestead" from a land will not evict tenants. This means that if you remove the "Homestead" to place it on another land you want to share, the tenants on the original land will not be evicted.

Evicting a tenant

  • If the landowner puts the land up for sale or sells it, all tenants will be automatically evicted.

  • Tenants can be evicted at any time using the same panel used to claim a land.

  • Tenants can be evicted at any time using the same panel used to claim a land. Upon eviction, all placeables owned by the tenant, such as planted seeds, crops, and Mysterious Seeds, will be stashed and moved to their inventory.

Bjorn Extraction

  • The landowner shares the pool of $BJORN tokens with each tenant.

  • Each tenant has their own set of Recurring BJORN Quests, effectively increasing the rate at which $BJORN can be extracted from the land each day.

  • Built BJORN Buildings apply to all tenants: for example, if the landowner has built a Fishing Hut, all tenants can receive their own Fishing Quests based on its tier.

  • Tenants cannot buy, upgrade, or repair BJORN Buildings.

Resources

  • Any player can harvest from any resource node, given they own the respective tools. The resources go to the inventory of the player who has harvested them.

  • For farming, any player till/plant/water/harvest from any tile that belongs to any player.

  • Fishing doesn’t change, since players can fish anywhere.

Landscaping/Placeables

  • All placeables can be interacted with by either player.

  • All placeables can be moved by either player in Build Mode. This includes Resources, BJORN Buildings, and decorations.

  • Only placeables that belong to a specific player can be placed (taken from that player's inventory) or stashed (returned to that player's inventory).

  • Any player can landscape freely. To avoid "landscaping conflicts", once one player has entered and is active in Landscaping mode, other players can still open the mode but are prevented from making any changes.

Free Trial Land

Lands are rare assets, but if you're lucky, you might have the chance to claim a Free Trial Land. While you won't have full ownership, some limitations may apply, such as the land being revoked if neglected, it still represents a great opportunity to play. You'll have access to all the features, and who knows? If you truly take care of it, the land might even become yours in the future.

When it comes to free trial, here are a few things you might want to know:

How to claim a Free Trial Land
Claim Free Trial Land

You will be randomly assigned a land in the Archipelago.

Limitations
  • Free Trial land conditions, such as the duration before they are revoked, can change at any time.

Shared Land

Lands are rare assets, but if you're lucky, you might convince a landowner to share one or more with you. Shared land is a great way to access land-exclusive features, or, even if you already own land, to expand your gameplay by gaining access to additional lands, resources, and quests.

When it comes to Land Sharing, here are a few things you might want to know:

How to get invited to a land
  • Interact in-game! Use the chat to connect with landowners and ask them to share their land with you

  • Join the My Neighbor Alice Discord Server, by far the best way to connect with the community and discover land-sharing opportunities.

Utility

The land presents various utilities:

  • Resources gathering: fishing, farming, extracting resources;

  • Refinery & Craftery: On a land, players can do all the activities they need to turn the resources into refined resources, which they can then use to craft items for their land plot or for their avatar.

  • Placeable objects: Players can place their items on their land plot, some of which are purely vanity and others of further utility;

  • Trading: Players can place a storefront in their land plot and put the items they want to sell. To learn more about trading, head to In-game Trading.

  • Landscaping: Players can change the terrain of their land plot to change a given land's initial natural and artificial physical features;

  • Bjorn Extraction: Each land contains a supply of tokens that can be extracted by completing daily quests. To learn more about Bjorn Extraction, head to Bjorn.

  • Sharing: Land can be shared with fellow players.

Land Attributes & Properties

Land plots come with some attributes and properties. They have soil and water percentage which determines their natural and artificial features. In addition to this, soils have types and fertility, while water has types and quality.

Soil

Soil Type: This affects which crops, plants, or seeds grow the fastest (not yet implemented)

Soil Fertility: Higher-quality soil results in more irrigated plots, which boost crop yields at harvest time.

Water

Water Type: This determines the types of fish you can fish.

Water Quality: Better quality water increases your chances of catching higher-quality fish (not yet implemented)
